Travel to the Isle of Lewis

To travel to the Isles of Lewis and Harris, you have two main options: by ferry and by plane.

We have grouped the Isle of Lewis and Harris together for this page as the two places are really the same island as far as travel goes.  In other words, the two islands are physically connected and there is no water between them.

BY FERRY

The ferry service to Lewis and Harris has three routes, all run by Caledonian MacBrayne

Ullapool to Stornoway
North Uist (Berneray) to Harris (Leverburgh)
Sky (Uig) to Harris (Tarbet)
BY PLANE

The Airport is located approx 3 miles east of Stornoway town centre and is clearly sign posted from the A866.

The best information source that we can find is supplied by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd.  The information is up-to-date and so we link straight through to their site, which includes maps, timetables and other useful links.  Click here to go to the site

CAR HIRE

Cars are available to hire at either the Airport or, in Stornoway.
