New Chef:
New and exciting
times at the hotel with the arrival of Patrick
Farren, our new chef. He has 23 years
experience in the hospitality industry. Patrick
has a wealth of experience in the kitchen,
having worked in several high profile hotels in
Britain, including 4 star and Michelin star
ratings. This decision to work and live in
Lewis is a lifestyle choice for Patrick and his
family. Patrick's focus is on a his challenge
to give Doune Braes his quality, style and
standard of food which he believes the hotel
deserves. He is using mostly locally sourced
produce including heather fed lamb, hand dived
scallops, beef from nearby crofts and wild
venison from hills around us. What I find
amazing about Patrick's food is how he cleverly
uses herbs and spices so subtly that his food is
really quite special. Come along and share and
experience our exciting new beginning at Doune
Braes.
Meals:
The Doune Braes Hotel offers a range of facilities to
cater for groups, functions and the individual needs of
our guests.
Food is served all day, seven days per week from 12:00
to 20:30 except on Sundays, when last orders for meals
are taken at 19:30. We take pride in providing excellent
service to all of our customers, whether they are
stopping for a meal, a snack, or staying in the hotel.
Wherever possible, we will find a way to accommodate
your every need. During the winter months, please check
in advance for daytime meals.
Should you plan to spend the day out and wish to have a
picnic somewhere on a nearby beach, a lovely long walk
or perhaps go for a day of fly fishing,
we are happy to provide a packed picnic lunch at your
request. A little advance notice of your departure time
for the day is all that is required!
A list of our facilities is given below and pictured to
the left:

The restaurant seating accommodates 36 for à la carte or
bar meals. We specialise in a variety of local, fresh
seafood dishes such as shellfish, prawns, scallops,
lobster and whitefish. The menu also includes a range of
meat and vegetarian dishes.
Hotel lounge bar area: relax over a drink and perhaps
order from our bar menu. The bar menu differs from the
dining room, but naturally you can make your choice from
either menu!
Public bar: with a private entrance from the hotel, this
is a fun place for friends to meet and challenge each
other over a round of pool. Our public bar also has a
television and provides the perfect location to watch
football matches and other sporting events.
